Colleen Cooper - President

Colleen Cooper - President

 Colleen Cooper is the founder of our organization and serves as President of One Room Schoolhouse No. 3 Inc.


Colleen is a financial advisor with Katherine Onieal Investment Services/Raymond James, where she helps individuals and businesses invest and manage their wealth. She also plays an instrumental role in the business administration of Coops Lawn and Landscape and Coops Trucking. With experience in operating small businesses, she brings valuable insight to the board, particularly in ethics, leadership and finance.


In addition to her board service, Colleen is actively involved in the Altrusa International Club of Muncie, an organization dedicated to children, literacy, and service. 

Colleen has a vision to restore Schoolhouse No. 3 and reignite connections throughout Delaware County. She is passionate about preserving the schoolhouse as one of the last remaining schoolhouses in the state still preserved for educational purposes, ensuring people of all ages have the opportunity to experience, learn from, and engage with this important piece of local history.

Peggy Campbell Hazlett is a board member serving as secretary on One Room Schoolhouse No.3 inc. 

She is a graduate of Muncie Northside High School and BSU school of nursing. She is happy to have this opportunity to serve on the board of the One Room Schoolhouse No.3 inc.
In addition to her current board service, she was active in her children’s activities at Cowan school, serving on various school related functions and events. She was also a proud member of the Monroe Township Volunteer fire dept. for 13 years. She has been involved in several community based activities, some of which involved organizing  fundraising dinners for both the BMH hospitality house and the Monroe Township fire dept. She was also a member of the Monroe township Home Ec club for several years. 
Muncie is her home town with family ties that reach back to the 1800’s. Peggy is passionate about her home town and the Cowan community where she has resided since 1993. She has been blessed with a servants heart, which has nourished her soul in so many ways. She believes in personal connections with people, and her community. 
She also believes that history serves as an important connection to the future and has a passion to preserve this historic One Room Schoolhouse No.3 for future generations. She believes the One Room School house is an asset that can serve the community with various events and educational opportunities for many years to come.

Mary Coffman serves as Treasurer of the Board for One Room Schoolhouse No. 3, Inc.


Mary is currently farming, watching her grandchildren and serving as a caretaker for family members.  She retired from a corporate sales director role where she gained extensive experience managing large client relationships and supported marketing initiatives of her company. This background provides valuable insight in her role as Treasurer, particularly in fundraising and

community outreach efforts.


In addition to her board service, Mary is actively involved as a leader and volunteer with Delaware County 4H, volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, and serves as Worship Leader and Children’s Music Director at her church. She is also a past member of Women in Consumer Finance and enjoys doing mission work whenever possible.


Mary is passionate about restoring the schoolhouse and is honored to serve her community - especially by helping children experience what a day in school looked like in the past. A lifelong resident of the community, she is excited to serve in this role beginning in 2026.

Hilary Casstevens

 Hilary Casstevens serves as a Board Member for One Room Schoolhouse No. 3, Inc.


Hilary grew up in Muncie and graduated from Northside High School before earning a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Information and Communication Sciences from Ball State University. She is currently a Realtor, where she helps buyers and sellers navigate important life transitions. With experience in communication, organization, and community relationships, she brings valuable insight to the board, particularly in outreach and local engagement.


In addition to her board service, Hilary is actively involved in supporting local businesses, community initiatives, and historic preservation efforts.


Hilary is passionate about preserving meaningful places and local history due to her deep connection to Muncie and the stories, families, and landmarks that have shaped the community. She has served on the board since 2026.
